Oregon Ducks Show Off New Football Uniforms For 2009
Few teams in sports have more uniform changes than the Oregon Ducks. But then when you are literally right next door to Nike and a test bed for their new products you would expect nothing less than a sports fashion show every few years to unveil the new look. And of course this upcoming NCAA football season is no different as the Ducks showed off their new threads to the media this week, though surprisingly sans mention of new shoes.
To listen to Nike describe it these are the “fastest playing uniforms” in college football. This just sounds funny, like you can put anyone in one and they will instantly be a Heisman candidate, but that is Nike for you always marketing their gear.
In 2006, the last uniform change, there was an amazing 384 possible combinations for the game day uniform between the various shirts, pants, and helmets. You almost need a college degree just to figure out that but of Oregon Ducks Merchandise trivia.
There are once again several combinations but this time Nike has stuck with more traditional colors and has gotten rid of the day glo yellow that they had going there for awhile, I am sure to much applause by fans of the team. Nike has taken the traditional green and yellow from the Oregon school colors and added in some more blacks and grays for uniforms that are not too bad looking.
Players themselves played a role in the designs and choices. A large majority of them wanted the duck wings added to the shoulders like the team featured in the Arizona game last year. Of course for collectors of Ducks apparel this means time to clean out the bank account to buy new game day duds for themselves to wear so they are up with the latest looks.
