Protecting Yourself When Purchasing NFL Helmets Online

The internet has made the hobby of colleting NFL football helmets much easier than it ever has been in the past. Before the web was full of sites where collectors could get just about any helmet they could dream of collectors had to spend their free time going to sports merchandise stores and collectibles trade shows to find pieces. This was time consuming and sometimes made it hard to find those rarer collectibles.

With the convenience of having so many collectible NFL helmets the click of the mouse away there also is the potential for being scammed by those looking for a quick buck. Of course sports memorabilia collectors have always had to deal with forged autographs on balls and helmets. The collector who purchases autographed memorabilia knows to verify through certain steps the authenticity of the signature. But now purchasing authentic game day helmets on the internet means that you do not get to see what you are buying before you pay for the item.

If you are going to purchase sports memorabilia off the internet, whether from shops or private sellers, you should take steps to protect yourself when buying from those private collectors and ensure you are going through a third party site that allows you to dispute the sale or better yet meet the person for the final sale. If purchasing your NFL collectible from an e-commerce site make sure it is a reputable company such as Booyah Village. It is easy to set up a shop, sell authentic game day helmets for top dollar, and yet ship the customer a lesser replica NFL helmet. Though replica helmets are great collectibles to add to your display it is not necessarily what you paid for. Make sure the site you are shopping from has top quality pro Riddell helmets and realizes that authentic Revolution helmets are different from replica NFL helmets.

A Mini Helmet Collection As A Child's Hobby

When many adults were children we had a hobby of some kind that we spent our free time working on. This hobby usually involved something that we were very interested in and in some cases were even interests that we shared with one or both of our parents. This could have been anything from photography to collecting and trading baseball cards. But hobbies are something that many kids are getting away from and this is a shame since the activity has so many positive benefits for the child as they grow.

Hobbies help a child with self-esteem and self-expression and when the activity is shared with a parent the time together is something that will be cherished by both as the years go by. One hobby that is growing with adults that would also be an excellent pastime for kids to collect is mini football helmets. Organized sports and the interest in them can be a very positive part of a child’s life so collecting helmets of professional football teams can be a great way for them to express themselves and show interest in something they may already love, the NFL.

A mini football helmet collection is something that kids and parents can do together. Spending weekends going to collectible shows and meet and greet events with pro players to get helmets autographed is an excellent way to spend time together. The collection that the child gathers can be something they are proud of as they show it off to family and friends. Plus the time they spend learning about the history of the teams, logos, and league can encourage them to learn reading, math statistics, and all kinds of other skills. Mini football helmets do not only have educational benefits to your child, but they also just look cool and are fun to collect.

Collecting College Football Helmets Based On Players

Collectors of NCAA football memorabilia have so many choices and options for their helmet collections. One option many go with is collecting helmets based upon specific players most often those who go on to star in the NFL. Most of the top players in the National Football League played for a Division I school between high school and the pros and many collectors like to add the sports merchandise for their favorite players including their NCAA items and gear.

A great display for just about any professional football player includes the college football helmet and the professional football helmet, combined with an autographed photo or football card. This is a great looking display for a rec room or den and when several top players are honored this way you will have a fine collection that anyone would be proud of.

Just as in the NFL, college teams periodically change their helmet designs, so collectors who want a specific helmet for a specific NCAA player will need to ensure that they get the right model that was worn that year. Luckily there are all types of throwback helmets as well as current models for them to choose from including replica and authentic. This will help them get that perfect display together in honor of a great player in not only professional football but college as well.

Authentic college football helmets can add a really great touch to a NFL collection to celebrate the career of a player who has proven themselves on the field and will surely one day be in Canton in the Hall of Fame. This unique twist can be just what you need to make your collection different from that of any NFL fan. Instead of just gathering the current helmets of the teams in the league you can have a great combination of NCAA and NFL merchandise.

Collecting Replica NFL Helmets Instead Of Game Day Models

Nothing brands an NFL team more than their game day helmet which features the team logo on a team colored shell that every player wears for every game and practice. Over the years a lot of research and design has gone into the NFL football helmet and for the collector this means quite a bit has gone into those authentic game day helmets that many want for their display case. For many collectors the expense of getting authentic game day helmets is just too much for their budget.

Luckily Riddell has a line of sports collectible helmets that look like the real thing but since they are not intended for competitive play the price tag is much more affordable. These helmets feature a painted full size shell that has the official team logo that looks great in a display case. The internal padding inside the helmet is merely decorative and there is not nearly the same quality as the competitive helmet but this is not needed for an item that is meant to sit on the shelf. The chinstraps that are included on the replica NFL helmet is also not meant for competitive play but to the eye it has an authentic just as the if it belongs on the game day models.

These helmets are still perfect for collecting, displaying and also make great items to get autographed by the top players on the team. Get the replica football helmet for your favorite NFL team and spend the off-season at meet and greet and other events to catch your favorite player to get an autograph on the helmet. This will give you a true one of a kind collectible that you can proudly display in your rec room. Replica helmets are quickly becoming one of the most popular choices for the demanding collector who wants a true team branded piece of sports merchandise.

Displaying Your NFL Mini Helmet Collection

If you collect football helmets you probably only started with one or two helmets in your collection. These were more than likely placed on the entertainment center by the TV or on a mantel in the rec room. But no matter what size you collect you are going to quickly run into the problem of how you are going to display all the helmets that you have in your collection. Helmets do take up a lot of space so displaying them in your home for all to see in a neat organized way can be a little tough.

Many collectors opt for the NFL mini helmet completely because of the display and space issue that comes with collecting helmets, especially full size game day models that are twice as large as the mini. Mini NFL helmets are approximately five inches high so they are still an adequate size to see all the details on the helmet. The logo is still big enough you can pick up all the details and the padding, chinstrap and other features on the helmet still give it that game day look.

There are many display cases available to the collector that will hold anywhere from one NFL mini helmet to all 32 pro teams in the league. These cases come also in a variety of styles so that you can choose between hanging them on the wall to sitting them on a table or entertainment center. Not only do these cases make displaying your NFL helmet collection easier they also protect those helmets by giving them a secure place in your home so that they will not be exposed to accidental damage that can mar the surface. Of course when you are shopping for your display case think not only of the helmets you have now but those you plan on getting in the future so that you will have plenty of room for all of them.

A Little History On The Chicago Bears

Bears Helmet.jpg

Since the NFL was founded in the early 1900s many teams have come and gone but the Chicago Bears are one of two teams that have remained for the duration. The Bears have one of the deepest most devoted fan bases in all of professional sports and many of the legends of the game have been with this franchise. Of course little has changed for the Bears over these years from their stadium to their logo and the fans are just fine with this.

The Bears of course started out in Decatur but moved over to Chicago in 1921 where they began playing at the classic Wrigley Field. They team remained there until the 1970 season when they moved into the now infamous Soldier Field. Except for the 2002 season this has been there home ever since.

The uniform has changed several times over their history but has generally remained the classic navy blue with burnt orange color scheme. The Bears helmet has been roughly the same since 1962 when NFL teams began adding logos to their helmets. The Bears choose their trademark C logo or wishbone C as it is sometimes called. The only change in the helmet since this C was added occurred in 1973 when the C changed from white to orange with white trim. Though there have been concept designs since that time with variations of the C and a bear but none of these have ever been more than a idea the official Bears team helmet has remained the C which has come to be a sign of the city itself.

For the collector of football helmets and other sports memorabilia the Bears have may not have changed many things over the years. They have provided plenty of history and legendary players as well as one of the greatest rivalries in the game with the Green Bay Packers.

The Truth About NFL Mini Helmets

If you research mini football helmets on the internet it is really easy to come across information that is not completely correct about these popular sports collectibles. For many football fans these small helmets are one of the first items they start a collection with, while for others they are their favorite size of team helmet since they are affordable and easy to display. A recent search for articles on the subject of mini helmets yielded results that contained information that was flat out false and misleading to someone who is trying to decide whether or not to start their own collection.

In one article it was stated that NFL mini helmets would fit in your pocket. I am not sure how big the pockets are in other people’s pants but I know a mini helmet would not fit into mine. A true mini helmet is approximately half the size of those worn by the players on the field. Riddell claims their mini collectibles are around 5 inches in height, which is a little big to be in your pocket, but yet it is a nice size to still have a clear picture of the team logo.

It was also stated that many collectors display there helmets in their cars which any collector who is serious about his or her investment would never leave a piece of memorabilia in their car. The temperatures and sun exposure would probably take a toll on the helmet and bring down any value that may be in the piece. Plus the temptation would be high for thieves who look into your car and see a NFL sports collectible sitting there to break in and steal the item.

Mini football helmet are a great item to collect and are perfect for first time collectors or long time buyers who love their small size. If you are considering starting this hobby than make sure you are getting accurate information regarding the hobby to ensure that you are satisfied with what you are getting for your money.

Deciding Which College Helmets To Collect

Collecting NFL football helmets can turn into a very large and even expensive hobby since there are so many teams in the league and many of them have had several helmet designs over the years. Collectors figure out real quick that they may have to limit to certain teams or specific eras or maybe even collect mini football helmets in order to have enough room to display them all and even enough money to buy that many in the first place.

Of course if collectors of NFL helmets have this problem than those who want to collect NCAA helmets have it even worse since there are so many colleges in the country. Even if you stick to only the current helmet of every Division I college you will still have a massive collection of college helmets. So most every collector must decide their own criteria on what NCAA football helmets they will collect for themselves.

Some collectors only collect the helmets from one or two chosen schools for whatever reason. Maybe they are the local favorites or maybe the school is just their favorite since they attended the university. Others choose to collect by division, such as maybe all the helmets worn by teams that play in the SEC. This is one of the more common methods since divisions are a good dividing line for schools. One other way to decide for some collectors is by using the BCS standings. This way they can even display the helmets based on the current rankings in the BCS poll.

Whatever guidelines you may choose on how to decide which college football helmets to add to your personal collection remember that this is only a hobby. You should be having fun buying these helmets and as long as it is enjoy your hobby and your collection.

Networking With Other Mini Football Helmet Collectors

The wonderful thing about the internet is it makes finding those with the same hobbies and interests as you easy to find and talk with despite varied locations. For the NFL and NCAA fan who enjoys collecting mini football helmets there are many sources where you can get information on the hobby and meet new people who like to collect these small scale versions of the helmets worn by the players on the field.

Whether you are new to collecting the mini helmets of your favorite teams and players or you have been in the collectibles market a long time everyone can benefit and enjoy meeting like-minded individuals to chat with. To find those who enjoy collecting these helmets you can start searching in Yahoo Groups where there are already several groups set up for football fans. At this time there are already groups for NFL football helmets, mini football helmets, throwback football helmets and many more. Plus if you want you can start your own group and network to chat about helmets, arrange trades, and so much more.

There are also lots of forums and collectible sites that allow users to chat with each other about helmets, teams, and whatever else may come to mind they may want to discuss. While most mini football helmets are readily available from Booyah Village you may find a unique piece such as an autographed version from your favorite player that someone is willing to sell or trade for another helmet you may have. Plus more experienced collectors can share the wealth of information they may have gathered over the years in their efforts to collect mini helmets with newer people who are just getting into the hobby. These networks are most often free and can be a very fun way to spend your time.

Reward Stickers On College Football Helmets

If you are a casual college football fan you may see many NCAA teams that have players with stickers all over their college football helmet. For some this is a curious thing especially since some players on the team will have a helmet full of these stickers while other players may only have a few.

Many teams have and still use these stickers as part of their football program as rewards for meeting goals and making top plays. Plus each school also has their own design for their sticker; these can range from a Buckeye for Ohio State to a dog bone at Georgia. For some NCAA football teams such as Ohio State these stickers are a long time tradition in which the fans of the team take great pride in keeping track of to see who the top players are.

ohiostate.jpg

Each school and coach decides whether or not to use these stickers on their NCAA football helmets so for some colleges this is something that has come and gone from their program. Also each coach and school creates his or her own criteria on what earns a player a sticker so this will vary widely from program to program. Many coaches now keep personal blogs or web pages, which they list, their own requirements for these awards.

There is much debate among fans of college football as to whether schools should be awarding players these stickers to display on their helmets. Some feel this is a great way to give recognition to top players while others feel this is singling players out on what should be a team sport. Of course for some schools this is such a tradition that it will not go away while for other schools this is something that comes and goes depending on the current coach.

Washington Redskins Helmet Designs

It may be hard for some fans to believe but the Washington Redskins were named the second most valuable franchise in the NFL by Forbes Magazine as of 2008 yet when the team started in the 1930s in Boston despite very successful seasons did not draw enough fans to remain in that city. Of course after moving to the Nations Capital in 1932 the team found a home that truly appreciates them.

With such a long and storied history the Redskins are one of the teams in the NFL that has a very interesting collection of helmet designs they have used over that time period. Of course in the very early days with the leather helmets there was no consistency since many players used what they had so the color varied from brown to maroon.

But in the 60s when teams began using hard shell helmets and including decals the first helmet design used by the Redskins is considered by many to be one of the most unique ever used in the league. This helmet did not use the classic stripes down the crown of the head as many teams did but instead a feather and this was all that graced the side of the maroon helmet.

The legendary Vince Lombardi actually heavily influenced the Redskins helmet that was used by the team for the early part of the 70s. This design had a yellow helmet with a white circle featuring a large red R inside with some feathers hanging down from the circle reminded Lombardi of his beloved Green Bay helmet so he pushed for this particular design.

This design did not end up being around long before the team adopted the design, which is still in use today. This exchanged the yellow helmet with a maroon one and the circle was filled by an indian head as opposed to a R. Many fans feel that this is a great design but since it has been around for so long the team is due for a change. We will all have to wait and see though.

Helmet Violations & Fines In The NFL

The NFL is very stringent with their players and how they must appear when they are on the field of play. Each and every part of their uniform is highly regulated and any deviation from this will result in stiff fines to the player from the league.

Many players on a regular basis break rules regarding the NFL helmet, for some this is simply a one time accident while for others it is a concise decision they make. Some are willing to pay the fines in order to have a lucky item or appear a certain way.

Some of the helmet rules are obvious safety issues such as the helmet must be worn at all times when on the field of play. While other rules may not be obvious violations unless you know the rules of the league governing the use of helmets in the league.

Many players purposely wear do rags and bandanas that are not approved by the league. There are some approved skull caps that are licensed by the NFL and any other piece of headwear worn under the helmet other than these will result in a fine. Another area regularly violated by players, especially running backs, is the helmet visor. Players are required to prove the need for an eye shield on their football helmet by a doctor and a NFL physician before they are allowed to legally use one. Even then changing the color of this shield can result in a fine as a recent $5,000 infraction was issued to Ronnie Brown for wearing a sunburst colored shield during a game.

Of course the interesting part of all these fines to players for violating rules regarding their uniform and team football helmets is that the money is given to charity. Every year the money players and teams pay into fines to the league gets donated equally to four charities that the league supports. I as a fan had personally wondered where this money went and am happy to know that others benefit from the large amount of money that flows in the NFL.

Headsets in the NFL Football Helmet

The NFL has changed a lot over the years from the rules, to the players, to the equipment worn by those players. One of the pieces of gear to undergo the most changes is the football helmet. In the early days players did not wear one at all but this slowly evolved into the leather models that are associated with the early years of the league, which only covered the top of the head and ears, but not the face. Eventually Riddell came along with the plastic helmets that changed the NFL football helmet the most and a facemask was added soon after.

Of course one of the biggest changes to happen in the helmet in the NFL is not visible to the eye of the football fan. For years plays were called into the quarterback from the sidelines using complicated hand signals. This was to get the play in and hopefully confuse the other team on what the play was going to be. This was to all be changed with the use of radio headsets in the helmets of the quarterback.

Originally tried in 1956 by the Cleveland Browns this experiment did not work out so well mostly because the technology was not advanced enough yet. After the league discovered this attempt at radios in helmets they were banned until 1996 when they were once again allowed into the helmet for play calling.

Originally the rule stated that only the quarterback was allowed to use these radios but teams found ways around this. Several times a setter for a field goal changed the play and pulled up and threw the ball. This led to the discovery that other players were occasionally using the quarterback’s helmet so a play could be changed on the fly. This led to a new rule in 2002 that the helmet with the radio had to sport a green sticker designating it as so. In 2008 the league also approved the use of a radio in one defensive helmet as well as the one for the quarterback, giving two headsets per team to be used.

Alternate Jerseys & Helmets In The NFL

In the NFL every team has two sets of jerseys the home and away, yet for both uniforms the helmet is still the same. Many fans wonder why the helmet does not change as the jersey color to add a little more spice to the team uniform and add a little creativity in design. Fans as well as the marketing departments for the teams in the league love when they are allowed to vary their uniforms to create a buzz with the fans and the media.

The NFL has very specific rules regarding the uniforms worn by the players and backs these rules up with hefty fines when they are violated. Before each game each team and player is thoroughly inspected to tightly control the appearance of everyone on the field. This includes NFL football helmets and the use of the alternate jerseys by each team. Only under special permission and certain events are teams allowed to veer from their usual home and away uniforms. And this is the one and only time that the teams are allowed to use a helmet other than the one single official game day helmet that they usually wear.

The first season the NFL allowed the teams to use alternate jerseys was in 1994 when each team wore a throwback uniform and helmet in honor of the 75th anniversary of the league. In 2002 the NFL was the last major professional sport to adopt the alternate uniform policy, which allows each team to have a third uniform that they may wear twice during the season. Many teams have styled this uniform after old throwback uniforms and since this alternate jersey can have a different helmet design many use a throwback helmet at this time. The teams can also wear the alternate jerseys all they want in the playoffs yet the San Diego Chargers are the only team to use this priviledge to this date.

Collecting All The Dallas Cowboys Helmets

The Dallas Cowboys are known as America’s Team and for football fans all over the country it seems you either love the Boys are you cannot stand them. No other team in the NFL seems to stir up the same emotional levels as the Cowboys do with fans. The same goes for the players of the team; they are either America’s heroes or their villains. From the great players such as Roger Staubach to the controversial Terrell Owens many men have worn the blue star of the Cowboys.

That blue starred helmet of the Cowboys is also one of the most recognized logos and helmets in all of pro sports. The blue star on the Cowboys helmet is of course to recognize that the team comes from the Lone Star State. Over the years the uniforms and helmets of the Cowboys have remained relatively the same. When the team was formed in 1960 the helmets were white with the blue lone star, but in 1964 the white background was replaced with the silver that the team has used until this day. For special occasions though the Cowboys will pull out those white throwback helmets for a treat for the fans.

Of course one interesting Cowboys helmet for the collector who wants to have a complete set would be the 1976 version. This helmet is still the silver shell, which the Cowboys had been using for over 10 years with the blue star. But to celebrate the bicentennial of the USA the team added a red stripe down the crown of the helmet for some of their games that year. For the fan of the team who collects NFL helmets for their display case in the rec room this Cowboys helmet may just be the toughest one to add to that collection.

Why The Steelers Only Have a Logo On One Side Of The Team Helmet

Steelers Helmet.jpg

Nothing increases more of a demand for sports collectibles for team’s items than a great run at a championship. For the Steelers and the Cardinals the run to the Super Bowl increased sales on all of their fan apparel and sports collectibles and nowhere was this more apparent than on game day when the stadium in Tampa Bay filled up with their team’s colors. Of course for the Pittsburgh Steelers winning the game was the ultimate reward for their themselves as well as their fans.

For Steeler Nation the sixth championship in team history just goes to show why this city is so fond of their professional football team. Those that want to add a great collectible to commemorate the season should consider a Steelers helmet for their collection. No piece of gear brands any NFL team better than their team helmets.

For the Steelers this means a black helmet with the Steelmark logo on the right side of the helmet. Pittsburgh is the only NFL team to have their logo on only one side of their team helmet. This dates back to the day when the team used yellow helmets and team owner Art Rooney instructed the equipment manager to place a test logo on one side so that he could see how it looked. One year later the team switched to the black Steelers helmets that are in use today and the one sided logo was so popular that it was just left this way.

Celebrate the sensational season of the Steelers by collecting one of the many Riddell helmets available to collectors. A great off-season pastime for NFL enthusiasts is to attend player events to collect autographs and a helmet signed by the players of this years Steelers would be a great addition for any fan of the team.

The Stories Behind NFL Helmet Designs

Though every NFL helmet worn by the players of every team has the same outer shell each team has a totally different story behind the logo and decals they use to brand their team. Collecting the authentic helmet of each NFL franchise can be a very fun hobby, but collecting the stories behind them can make your collection even more enjoyable to share with friends and family.

Ever since Fred Gehrke of the Los Angeles Rams painted ram horns onto his helmet in the 40s teams have used this piece of protective gear to brand their team. From those classic yellow Rams horns to the Super Bowl winning Steelmark of Pittsburgh, fans of the league know most of the designs and looks that every team has had on their helmets.

Throwback NFL Helmet

Some teams have never really had a large change in the appearance of their football helmet such as the New Orleans Saints. Some have not been in the league long enough to feel the need for a change such as the Carolina Panthers. While other teams in the league have had several major changes including those from the very early years that some fans may not even recognize. Of course many wonder why a team changes their helmet design. The reasons can vary from new ownership, to the team just wanting a more stylized modern logo and uniform so they have a flashy new look. Plus new helmets, logos, and uniforms means increased sales of sports merchandise of the new gear.

For collectors whatever the reasond this means there are great throwback helmets from the teams of yesterday as well as the modern looking helmets from the teams of today to collect. Plus if you learn a little about each design you have even more to share with those who view your collection.

Johnny Unitas Colts Helmet Auctioned Off

There are certain players in the NFL who become legend and are forever known as one of the best to play in the game. For collectors of NFL sports merchandise items from these players and the teams they played for are some of the most sought after pieces to add to a collection to memorialize the greatest to ever play.

For many NFL fans one of the greatest games ever played was the 1958 Championship game with the Baltimore Colts beating the New York Giants. This was the first ever game in the league to use the overtime rule and had fans on their seats until the very end much as the recent Super Bowl XLIII did. The legendary Johnny Unitas led the Colts for that game to what ended up being one of many more to come Championship games for the team.

colts helmet

Recently during the festivities at the Super Bowl in Tampa Bay an auction for charity was held where a circa 1960s Johnny Unitas Colts helmet was up for bids. This football helmet was well preserved and looked great for collectors who were interested in owning an authentic piece of NFL history. The consignor of the piece grew up near the restaurant owned by Unitas and frequently ate there with his father. Unitas gave the helmet to the boys father as a gift and despite some minor wear on the paint was in immaculate condition. This collectible was surely on the list of many football lovers but only one got to take it home for the winning bid of $24,000.

Of course for just about everybody this is way out of their budget but there are some other great Baltimore and Indianapolis Colts helmets that are available in both game day and replica models that you can buy and display in your personal rec room.

What a Year For the Arizona Cardinals!

Though they did not win Super Bowl XLIII the Arizona Cardinals and their fans still have a lot to cheer for and be excited about. Not only did the Cardinals return to the big game after one of the longest absences in the history of not only the Super Bowl but in professional sports but they also have a solid foundation laid for their future.

The season started with uncertainty on whether Kurt Warner or Matt Leinart would be leading the team this year, but that was decided just before the first kickoff on opening day with Warner winning the nod. Warner had a record setting year to back up this decision and was the inspiration for bringing the Cards back to the Super Bowl. And in the Super Bowl Warner was the leader the Cardinals needed with the only exception being the interception thrown at the end of the first half that went back 100 yards for a score and probably the difference in the game.

Of course the Super Bowl run was based on the passing of Kurt Warner to the amazing wide-outs Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin. The future looks good for the Cardinals with only the 2009-10 season for Kurt Warner being the only real unanswered question. Boldin and Fitzgerald both are under contract through 2010 while Warner is undecided at this point on whether he will return for the upcoming season. Should he decide not to though the team now has a taste for the big time and Leinart has plenty of experience already under his belt to take over the helm.

Whether Warner decides to return or not the team is still loaded with lots of young players who are proving they have a lot of talent. Fans of the team can load up on their Arizona Cardinals merchandise to get ready to see if the team can make another great run next season with all of this NFL talent.

Congratulations To The Pittsburgh Steelers and Their Fans: Super Bowl XLIII Champs

Last night millions of Americans crowded around their televisions while thousands more crowded into Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay Florida for what turned out to be one of the most exciting Super Bowl games in history. Whether you talk to a fan of the Cardinals or the Steelers they will all agree this nail biter was exciting and worth every minute watching the game.

The Steelers came out swinging and charged the opening possession right down the field for what looked like a touchdown but replay showed that Ben Roethlisberger did not make it in and they settled for a field goal. For the trivia buffs out there the resulting field goal of 18 yards ties the record for the shortest in Super Bowl history since the goal posts have been moved to the back of the end zone.

The first half ended with yet another Super Bowl record and a possibly 14-point swing in the game. As the Cardinals are on the goal line and looking like they will surely score the Defensive Player of the Year, James Harrison intercepted the ball and ran it back for a touchdown as time ran out for a 100 yard play, the longest play in Super Bowl history.

I personally did not think that another Super Bowl could beat the victory last year by the Giants and no catch by a wide receiver could be more exciting than the helmet catch by David Tyre. But boy was I wrong!! The big catch in the back corner of the end zone by Santonio Holmes for the go ahead score with seconds to go was a site to see. Only a true NFL could really appreciate the concentration and athleticism required to catch the ball and get both feet toed inbounds for a touchdown.

Everyone at Booyah Village would like to congratulate the Steelers and their fans on a remarkable game and a great season on the way to winning the Vince Lombardi Trophy. Fans can celebrate with us by shopping for Pittsburgh Steelers merchandise to celebrate the record setting sixth title by one of the greatest teams in the NFL.
